The Future Past

I wrote this poem when I was in college about fifteen years ago:

The Future

Sycophant…
The elementary,
Rudimentary,
Rip-ass riding,
Honor fucking,
Mega-ton rolling,
Unstoppable,
God damned,
Train of desire…
Coming soon to an America near you!

That was the first time I put my frustrations into words.  Those frustrations were born of the very thing that is tearing this great country apart as we speak.  Humble gratitude for all of the great luxuries we enjoy as Americans has all but disappeared.  We have allowed our desire for what we 'think' we deserve to molest our instinct to 'work' for what we need.  You can blame capitalism if you would like, but capitalism is a means to an end...socialistic reliance on entitlement  is an end to the means.  It is high time we all drew our hands back to our side--pulled the hammer from its hook--and got back to the business of 'working' towards a better country!
