I suppose - you thought - the world was your oyster,

and you, its pearl - would shine on forever!

You were - you knew - the power of brilliance,

and it, your luster - would win the world over!

You felt - I hope - the water eroding.

You saw - I pray - the sludge leaking in.

You had time to await the worlds coming darkness.

Oh Lord! Did you halt the life draining sin?
