Quote Note Of The Day 02/21/2010

Oh how true?  Revolutionary ideas do not leap from the minds of the well sated.  They vomit forth from the malnourished hearts of those left behind...those left to starve!
There is no reason to go to the grocer when the pantry is full.

Quote Note Of The Day 02/05/2010

Cropped version of Thomas Jefferson, painted b...Image via Wikipedia
“I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.” ~ Thomas Jefferson

There is nothing I could say to expound upon this prophetic statement so, instead, I will comment on the two possible views of it.

If you get it, then you fucked up!  You are asleep at the wheel!  Get your head out of your ass - realize where we stand as a country - and do something about it!

If you don't get it then you are fucked up!  You are part of the problem...not the solution!  Take your hand out of the air and put it to work for fucks sake!  Take care of yourself and yours!  I will take care of mine!

Quote Note Of The Day 02/04/2010

“Words are loaded pistols.” ~ Jean-Paul Sartre

Any doubts here?
For better or worse, words have built kingdom's and leveled nations.
They have given men wings and burned a people whole.
Words are the pistol and the bullet...

“Never underestimate a parent's ability to mortify his child.” ~Peter Gallagher

I have recently witnessed this in its most disgusting form.  The ability that some people have to judge with little, or no, self introspection is stunning!  The need to ignore the "judged" in order to not see the effects of their arrogance glaring back at them... unconscionable!

“You may fool all the people some of the time, you can even fool some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all the time.” ~ Abraham Lincoln

This quote is perfect for today because yesterday there was a whole lotta foolin' goin on!
The State Of The Union was an embarasment!
The GOP Response was no better.
I am starting to feel like the left and the right are just the distraction...the GREAT AND POWERFUL OZ if you will.
Wake up people!
Before it is too late!

Quote Note Of The Day 01/23/2010

“I want to be all used up when I die.” ~ George Bernard Shaw

Completely and utterly destroyed by the vim and vigor of how we lived.  Is there any other way to go?  Throw every fucking card out there on the table cause you can't take it with you...hell, sometimes you can't even remember it in the end!

Quote Note Of The Day 01/22/2010

“Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.” ~Oscar Wilde

We all wear masks.
Some are subtle.
Some are garish.
eyeofh.com is one of my masks...one of many!

Each mask is, itself, both a truth, and a fiction.  Tell yourself what you want...we all wear masks!

“What's real? What's not? That's what I do in my act, test how other people deal with reality.” ~ Andy Kaufman

Sometimes I wish I could be as deeply devoted to my art as Andy Kaufman was.  I would have to believe that most serious artists feel the same way.  He entrenched himself on the front line with an - often hillarious, and just as often sad - all out war with the status quo.  I do think, however, that the test was more along the lines of how HE dealt with reality...the audience was just a bystander!

Quote Note Of The Day 01/19/2010

“Discontent is the first necessity of progress.” ~Thomas Alva Edison

I am the laziest person on earth when all is well.  I think that is a common human thread.  When we are happy we ruminate...when we are unhappy we rage!

Quote Note Of The Day 01/18/2010

Benjamin FranklinImage via Wikipedia
“Anyone who trades liberty for security deserves neither liberty nor security” ~ Benjamin Franklin

Could there be a more relevant quote right here, and right now?  The "war on terror" comes toe to toe with this little truism on a daily basis.  Our government grows larger by the day, all the while consuming a liberty here and a liberty there.  No one notices until it is too late.  To confuse the issue even further, there are those out there that believe that OUR liberties should be extended to the aggressor.  What a slippery slope we tread daily.  What a horrid future we create for our children - to leave them bound by laws that the enemy will never follow.

Quote Note Of The Day 01/16/2010

“Always look on the bright side of life.” ~ Monty Python(from The Life Of Brian)

Sometimes - no matter what is going on in life - you just have to smile and say "fuck it!".  This song always enables me to do that.

Mohandas Karamchand GandhiImage by Stingrose via Flickr
“God has no religion” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Amen!   I understand the need to personalize your relationship with God, but there are plenty of ways to do that without judging the rest of the world for not sharing your same vision of the creator of all things.  The question is: if your religion (whatever that might be) were to disappear today, would God go with it?  If you are still thinking about that then you do not serve God, you serve an Idol.

Quote Note Of The Day 01/14/2010

Image of Friedrich Nietzsche from Twitter
“Love is a state in which a man sees things most decidedly as they are not” ~ Frierich Nietzsche

How true is this?  Love is nothing short of an alternate reality.  We don't see things that are there, and do see things that are not there.  That one emotion consumes and alters all others as on a pyre.  Love is - all at once - a most terribly beautiful, and utterly trans-formative bender of reality.  There exists no better drug in this world!

“The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me.” ~ Ayn Rand

Fucking A right!  If you are trying to accomplish something this should be your mantra.  If you are not trying to accomplish something than you are the one who can't stop whomever is moving forward with this quote buzzing in the back of their mind.  It is about as straight forward as one could possibly be without telling someone to go fuck themselves!
